We study the molecular mechanisms by which replication stress response pathways safeguard genome integrity. The purpose of these studies is to better understand how errors in DNA replication result in diseases such as cancer. We focus on the protein components of replisomes, the macromolecular machines that conduct DNA replication in cells. We perform detailed mechanistic studies to understand how proteins function at replication forks to promote DNA replication, and explore the cross-talk with signaling pathways critical in genome maintenance and cell survival.
